Its Thursday, its cold outside and I'm sat inside on my day off. G to the iddy up.

I met the one and only Dave Eggers the other night. He was doing a multimedia presentation of his new book What is the What. Afterwards he stayed for an hour and a half signing books. So I waited in line. He was so humble. I asked for his advice on writing and he took a few minutes to discuss it with me. I left so inspired. I've learnt so much from reading his books, and meeting him just re-enforced everything. A heartbreaking work of Staggering Genius still ranks as possibly the best book I've ever read. Followed closely by And you shall know our velocity. Reading his books, for me, is the same as listening to a Buck 65 record. I get the same feeling. The same feeling I get watching a David Gordan Green film, or a Paul Thomas Anderson film, or a Coen Brothers film. Or reading an Irvine Welsh novel. Or listening to Tom Waits. Or watching a Spike Jonze film.
In fact I just read he's currently adapting something for Spike Jonze! Dave Eggers and Spike Jonze collaborating. I can't even imagine the possibilities.
So yeah, Wednesday at St Barnabas church I crossed off one of the names on my mental list of writers I want to meet before I die. Now I just need to meet Tom Waits, Irvine Welsh, and Elmore Leonard.
Oh and I just saw Juno. And its hilarious and heartfelt and very honest. I also finally saw This England. That was also hilarious. Hilarious and heartfelt and sad and very very very honest and soberingly brutal.
Oh and and I saw No Country for Old Men. Hmmm? All I can say is go see it. Now. It is simply put the best film so far this year. The best film in the last I don't know how many years. It has to be seen to be believed.
By the way, the new Magik Markers album "Boss" is boss.

Giddy...up.
